Playdough!

While our cousin Ellie was here this past weekend, we made homemade playdough! I thought it was really fun and it was easy to make. I tripled this recipe so we had TONS to play with!
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • 1/2 cup salt
  • 1 tablespoon cream of tartar
  • Food coloring
  • Saucepan
  • 1 cup flour
  1. Combine water, oil, salt, cream of tartar, and food coloring in a saucepan and heat until warm.
  2. Remove from heat and add flour.
  3. Stir, then knead until smooth. The cream of tartar makes this dough last 6 months or longer, so resist the temptation to omit this ingredient if you don't have it on hand.
  4. Store this dough in an airtight container or a Ziploc freezer bag.

Michael is not too sure about playdough yet, but he had lots of fun watching Ellie play!

And...milk break.

If you need a quick activity to do, I would highly recommend the homemade playdough!

  1. Play doh is just so much fun! One thing that is really nice to do is to substitute dry kool aid mix for the food coloring. Use the packages that you buy that you are supposed to add sugar to, but don't add the sugar. Put the powecder in with the liquid ingredients. You get pretty colors and it smells soo good!
