State Fair, Anniversary, August

I planted this little patch of zinnias, petunias, and coleus off to the side of the garage this spring. It is so bright and happy and I love the way the flowers greet me when I get home. It has been flourishing lately so of course I had to get a photo of my flowers with my other two little sweet peas.

We had some fun at the park- everything and anything is fun when you are almost three! The girls love playing in this water and it reminds me of how much fun we had there when Michael was the same age.

We had a really fun time at the state fair this year. We got up bright and early to head to the twins contest which is on the first day. We hit major traffic and were almost late- so note to my future self that we need to leave a bit earlier. The girls got 4th place this year and were so cute. It was funny to see so many other sets of 2 year old twins in one place at one time (and to try and get them to stay still!).

It was a really pleasant day and it was nice having both my mom and mother in law in tow to share the day with us. The girls enjoyed their fair share of treats as well! I think the eggs on a stick were a hit (and free!).

Michael and I had a fun day out to Adventureland earlier in August. It was nice to go just the two of us and keep things low key. We spent most of the time in the water park and the sun really wore us out and we were too tired to do many rides on the way back out of the park. Michael is a thrill seeker in the water and did mostly the wave pool and the obstacle course.

Scott and I had a treat with a night out without kids to celebrate our 11th anniversary. We started the night at the Science Center with a viewing of Dunkirk in IMAX. It was pretty neat to see in that type of theater and we felt pretty sneaky going to the Science Center without kids.

We enjoyed a nice dinner afterwards at Django which was walking distance from our hotel, the hotel Des Lux. After dinner we wandered over to the sculpture park and had dessert at Americana.

Brenton Arboretum

I took my camera out today to delete my card before a family photoshoot and realized that I had quite a few photos that I hadn't shared yet! I have not been good about pulling it out this summer and that is a good reminder to myself to keep it handy especially on weekends now that we are getting busy with back to school things.

We took an afternoon excursion over to Brenton Arboretum on a cool but sunny August day and it was so beautiful!

Anna is so funny- I asked her to smell the flowers and she is obviously smelling...a stick. Did it at least smell good?

The arboretum has this super fun natural playground for kids and yes...it is mostly sticks and sand but it is super fun. I think they would play here all day if I let them. I like going here but it is super sunny and so it can get warm on hot days.

I hope to update a few more times before August gets the better of me! See you soon!
