Disney Trip Day 3: Animal Kingdom

Our third day was spent at the Animal Kingdom. I was super excited about this day because the park opened at 8am!! We got a very early start and got to enjoy the park with very few people for a couple hours. After our requisite photos in front of the entry (catch a trend, here?), we hiked over to Eexpedition Everest.

We again enjoyed the short standby line of about 10 minutes (mostly just taking the time to walk through the queue) and were on the ride in no time. It was a cool morning which added to the Everest effect.

We all loved it and rode it again, again with a short wait. We were fortunate to have Dave and Margie with us this morning so they took Michael over to Dinoland to play and ride Triceratop Spin.
Squirrel!

After meeting back up with Micheal, we headed over to Camp Minnie & Mickey to get in line for festival of the Lion King.

Michael was one of the kids picked from our section to be in the show and he loved it!! He is not shy at all and was so happy. He had the biggest smile on his face and yes...I cried again. He was so happy! He really thought he was big stuff but he looked so little out there. He talked and talked about it and also about when the monkey came and bopped him on his hat brim. It was a super fun show.

After the show, all the characters were out in their huts so we stood in the shortest line for Baloo and King Louie from the Jungle Book. I didn't have high expectations but it was probably the most fun character meet and greet we had. Michael had this little squishy Agent Perry he had been playing with and he took it with him to show the characters. They then took it away from him and were playing keep away with it. Michael thought it was really funny and talks about how "that monkey took his toy". It was very memorable!

After a short snack break, we used our fastpasses for the safari. It was getting super busy at the park and so I'm glad we didn't have to wait long to get on a truck. I loved the animals (and the sitting) and I think Michael thought riding in the big truck was the most fun part. It was a beautiful day.

We met up with everyone for lunch at Flame Tree BBQ (we ate our sack lunch...we are cheap!) and then the whole family went on Kali River Rapids. It was a cooler day so there was no wait and Michael was tall enough to ride this ride in a special seat. He was so proud of himself for "being big enough to ride the water coaster!".

We all got totally soaked and we went on it twice in a row. It was funny to watch my nephew act tough about getting wet and seeing Michael look up to his cousin. It was really fun to ride as a family and it was good memories!
Disney World: where everyone looks bad and no one cares! :o)

After a short swim and nap break at the Bonnet Creek condo, we all headed out to a nice dinner at Boma in the Animal Kingdom Lodge. It was awesome. I loved it. We all had some adult beverages and it was a good way to unwind from the day.

Doesn't my niece Ellie look so beautiful in her Merida dress?
