Disney Trip: Day 1 Travel and Arrival Day

Hi all!!

I am so excited to be back from Disney World. We had the time of our lives and we are already planning our next trip back (going through major withdrawals here). I am looking forward to sharing with you all the details of our trip, but feel free to just look at the pictures if you want. I loved looking at other people's blogs when planning and I hope by doing an intensive recap of our trip it can be a resource to others and as well as myself when planning future vacations.

We had a 9:50 flight so we had time to grab a little pre-vacation breakfast at our favorite place: the Machine Shed. We all had a late night before the trip trying to get work things wrapped up and we were tired. I was nervous about the flight but it was smooth skies with hardly any bumps.

Michael fell asleep and Scott and I had a chance to relax. I even read two magazines! This is a big feat because normally I can just sit and look out the window to make sure we are still safely in the air. However, we got stuck in the back row on this flight and didn't even have a window in our row. It was a weird feeling, especially when we were landing and wondering if we were getting close to the landing strip or not.

When we arrived at the airport in Sanford, Scott's parents picked us up and we headed straight to the Polynesian resort for our 5pm  reservation at Ohana. We really cut it close with the reservation time, getting there just as they were opening for dinner.

Ohana was awesome and we all ate until our stomachs hurt. They bring around tons of food and lots of meat on skewers from the main grill. It was a great way to kick off our vacation- we could see Cinderella's castle from the dining room windows!

Ohana had great kids activities to keep the young ones busy while the adults ate. There was a little sing along and then a coconut/broom race. You can see Michael having a blast in the corner of the above photo.

The rest of the family had been in Orlando for a few days before we got there. Due to my schedule at school, we were joining them in the middle of their trip. It was great to see everyone and get caught up on the happenings going on.

We managed to grab a great family picture from the awesome Cast Member working the front door. He got us all set up and even changed the settings on my camera to get the best shot! Wow!

In case you haven't noticed already, the Polynesian is beautiful. Having dinner here was a great welcome to Disney and a good kick off to our vacation!

Next up, Hollywood Studios!
