We also had a rare sighting of the baby bison at the park, he was right up by the fence. Normally I can't find them out at all.

Monday Musings

Another week begins...

We are having a great day today. Accomplishment of the day: actually getting everyone out of the house for an outing! yay!

We headed to the zoo this morning to get out of the house for a bit. Michael was having a terrible morning and was crabby which resulted in lots of toddler crying fits. We had to leave the house or else I would go crazy! It was a nice, cool morning to go to the zoo and we actually lasted about 60 minutes inside. Michael was great and Trace was fine until he got hungry and we had to make a quick exit. Luckily we left just in time...a storm hit right as we got on the highway. Yikes!

We got home, ate some lunch and now everyone is napping. Life is good.

This weekend we went to a wedding reception for a fraternity brother of Scott's. It was about an hour away and the location was so beautiful! Scott had asked me that morning if I wanted to go and I was feeling great so we went for it. It was a really smooth evening- Michael was good and Trace slept. I had a few glasses of wine and we didn't get home until midnight! Who are we and what has happened to us!? It felt so good to get out of the house and act like a normal person again. I should try it more often. :o)



The reception was held at this bed and breakfast which was lovely. I loved how it looked like a regular house...I wanted to move in.

Summertime!

It is stormy and raining here today so we are hunkered down inside where it is dark and quiet. We are waiting for our air conditioner guy to come and do a check up on our system- good thing it isn't 100 degrees like it has been!

I thought I would perk up this dreary day with some sunny photos I took the other day. Can you sense a theme to our days? When I say we have nothing going on we really have nothing going on....it is kind of nice!

Everything is growing so fast in my yard with all this sunshine. It is so fun to watch the plants get bigger and bigger by the day.

3 Weeks Old

Trace is three weeks old today!

Boy...in some ways, the past three weeks have gone by in a blink of eye and in other ways it seems like a long time. We are definitely more busy than we were when Michael was a newborn- there is no lounging around the house watching tv all day for us! Trace is doing pretty well and usually is a good little tag a long. He's already been to the library, to church, the grocery store, and he comes with us on our daily walks. People are excited to see such a small baby and always say nice things. Mostly the comments come from old ladies and children and are so cute! :o

We had his two week checkup a few days ago and has regained his birth weight. I was not worried about this at all because he is a great eater. I'm pretty sure he would want to nurse all day if I let him...luckily he has learned to eat fast before something (or someone) else gets my attention!

His official weight was 8 lbs, 14 oz at two weeks. We think he is getting so big and he is still not as big as Michael was when he was born! Perspective is a funny thing, huh?

I think he is changing every day and I feel like I just need to keep taking photos or I might miss something!

We've been having a heat wave here and so we've been having lots of fun outside in the water. I think we might have to cave and buy Michael a little wading pool because yesterday he tried to climb in his water table and sit down! Trace likes the high temperatures because they make it nice and warm for a good nap!

Summer fun

The weather has been so nice this week. It helps everyone's mood incredibly to get outside for a little bit (or a lot) every day so we've been doing exactly that. It's been a busy week with lots of visitors (yay!) and I'm glad to have another week under my belt as a mom of two. It is really amazing how each day presents its new challenges...I suppose this never changes during motherhood, huh?

Anyway, we had lots of fun outside this week. :o)

The above photos are what I get for trying to get Michael to take a "nice" picture. A.k.a. one where he is actually looking at the camera. How people do it? It's hard!

I eventually gave up and took pictures of things that don't move around as much...like babies and plants.

Outside fun and library time!

I am so sorry about the poor quality of these photos taken on my iphone. These days it just seems like a lot extra to have my big camera handy but I almost always have my phone in my pocket. Michael is too cute sometimes for me to not snap a picture!

We have pea gravel and lots of extra junk under our deck and it makes the perfect play place for a little boy. Michael likes to play here every day!

We also got out of the house on Wednesday for a little bit with a trip to the library. This was my first time out of the house with both boys and we survived! Michael was busy and we got some new books to read at home. It seemed like mostly grandmas at the library that morning and they all commented on how sweet little Trace was. It was nice to visit the library when it wasn't storytime...usually it is a madhouse!

Michael had a great time and actually threw a little tantrum when it was time to leave. Luckily, it was quickly diffused and he was in a good spirits for a quick walk afterwards.

Later that night I could definitely tell I overdid it, but it felt good to get out of the house for a bit. Hopefully everything will settle into a new normal for us soon!
