4th of July

DSC_0057_edited-1

We had a pretty low key fourth of July this year. Scott had a surgery to repair a torn ligament in his knee on the Friday before the holiday so we spent the long weekend helping him recover! He is doing fine and we hope he has lots of more good years left in his knees because I think I have done my time pushing people in strollers! :o)

Of course, I had to get the kids dressed in their patriotic finest for some quick photos! I think this is the best holiday for dressing up...and everyone does it!

Our neighbors across the pond put on a huge party with a spectacular fireworks show! It was great to enjoy it from our patio as well as light off some fireworks of our own.

I also had my municipal band concert on the night of the 4th which went well even though I had to play the piccolo on Stars and Stripes. Luckily the audience not only clapped after the solo (I played it with another gal), they cheered AND gave us a standing ovation afterwards. They loved it and it was fun to do something that makes people so happy even if it is super embarrassing to me, like that piccolo solo. My favorite part of the night was the Armed Forces Salute and watching the old veterans stand and listen to everyone clap along with their branch tune. Music is a special thing and it is times like these where you realize its importance to our communities and our country.

That is it from us! :o) Thanks for stopping by!
